ChatGPT Gets New Archive Chats Feature: How It Works
OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot ChatGPT now allows users to archive their conversations, removing them from the sidebar without deleting them. The new feature is currently available on the web and iOS versions of ChatGPT, with Android support coming soon.
ChatGPT Archive Chats Feature
According to OpenAI’s announcement, the archive chats feature lets you remove chats from the sidebar so they’re out of the way but still accessible. Your archived chats can be found in the Settings menu.
OpenAI Aims to Address AI Risks
OpenAI also recently released a framework describing how it evaluates and addresses risks from advanced AI systems like ChatGPT. The company defines catastrophic risks as those that could cause major economic damage or harm people.
OpenAI's preparedness team will evaluate
ChatGPT and other AI models for risks like cybersecurity threats, misuse of chemical/biological agents, improper persuasion, and loss of control. Only models with a "medium" or lower risk rating in these areas will be developed.
OpenAI is also creating an advisory group to review risk reports and make recommendations to executives and the board of directors. While executives will make final decisions, the board can override them.
The Race for AI Dominance Heats Up
Major tech companies are investing heavily in AI to gain a competitive advantage. OpenAI’s work on natural language processing and generation has produced models like ChatGPT that can conduct complex conversations. However, concerns remain about AI systems being hacked, manipulated or uncontrolled.
Regulations and frameworks like OpenAI’s aim to ensure AI progress benefits humanity. As AI continues advancing rapidly, proactively addressing risks is crucial. Overall, AI will likely transform our future in exciting and perilous ways.
