Google has renamed its AI assistant from "Bard" to "Gemini" in an effort to better showcase its commitment to bringing users direct access to the latest Google AI capabilities.
As part of the rebranding, Gemini is launching a new subscription service called "Gemini Advanced" that will provide early access to some of Google's most advanced AI models, including the newly announced Ultra 1.0 model.
With the addition of Ultra 1.0, Gemini Advanced subscribers can expect the assistant to become significantly more capable at handling complex tasks like coding, logical reasoning, and more.
Google is also releasing a dedicated Gemini app for Android that deeply integrates AI assistance into popular Google services such as Gmail and Maps. iOS users will be able to access similar functionality through the Google app.
The rebranding of Bard to Gemini and the new offerings signify Google's vision to create the most helpful AI assistant on the market - similar to Microsoft's goals with the Copilot coding assistant.
